People love to travel, people also love to save money. And sometimes these love interests present an impasse – traveling requires a certain amount of money. So thus it is with a heavy heart that we set aside our vacation plans for another year and return dejected to our daily lives. This does not always have to be the case however, with a certain planning and choosing your destinations cleverly, you can have a vacation within a nice budget. Furthermore you can use your airline miles to fund your tickets, and if you’re lacking those just buy miles to fill the gap. Thailand

This southeastern country is hugely popular with tourists for its scenic islands and resorts, a rich culture and mouthwatering cuisine. It is a tropical paradise which offers party, adventure and cheap prices all rolled into one. It is famous for its crowded streets and beaches, and thus many a tourist flock to Thailand every year. If you want to get away from the crowds try to traverse the Mae Hong Son Loop on a motorbike. This 600 km trip takes you through the northern forests and offers great sights along the way.

Vietnam

Vietnam has a lush countryside that offers a lot to its travelers, especially if you like trekking through the jungle. The local cuisine is famous around the world especially its trademark pho. Depending on where you eat, three meals a day will not cost you above 15 dollars, and the hotels are amazingly affordable as well. It has its fair share of idyllic beaches and national parks such as Ha Long Bay, Phu Quoc and Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park.

Uruguay

When most people think of visiting South America only consider Brazil or Argentina, and while they are great places which offer a sound value for money, Uruguay is not dissimilar – it is cheap, has great food, even better beaches and places that provide a respite from the hustle and bustle of urban life. It also has a grand old capital in Montevideo.

Prague, Czech Republic.

You may be surprised to find a European hotspot on the list but this doesn’t take away the fact that Prague, for a European city, is quite cheap in comparison to other places in the continent. Prague’s beauty needs no introduction, you can walk around the quaint little alleys taking in the lush city sights, get good food and local beer for a few dollars. It’s a must visit.

India

India is quite popular on the world map when it comes to tourism – few places rival this huge country in terms of its prices and the sheer attractions on offer. Visit the great cities of Mumbai and Delhi, or relax at the spectacular beaches in Goa. Have a variety of local meals for less than 5 dollars (depending on where you eat) or visit the lush mountains in the Himachal Pradesh state in northern India. This country has it all, for very low prices at that.
